1991 - 1994: Ph.D. scholarship from the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung (since 7/1992 ideal sponsorship).
1992 - 1997: Scientific assistant (Ph.D.-Program) and Associate Lecture at the University of Kassel, Department of social sciences.
1996: Doctorate as Dr. rer. pol. at the University of Kassel. Title of the thesis: "Zwischen nationalen Interessen und globalen Entwicklungen: Deutsche Militärpolitik in der neuen Weltunordnung"/ "Between national interests and global developments: German military policy in the new world-disorder" (published at agenda-Verlag 1997).
1997 - 2003: Assistant Professor (preparing habilitation) at the University of Kassel, Department of Social Science, in the field of "International and intersociety relations and foreign policy".
2003: Assistant Professor for Political Science/ International Relations at the Department of Political Science and Visiting Fellow of the Center for Global Change and Governance, Rutgers University, Newark (NJ) USA
2006: Second State Examination as secondary school teacher with the subjets "Social Science/Politics and Economy" and "Music"
2007: Habilitation with the venia legendi for political sciences at the Department of Social Sciences, University of Osnabrück
